Cat House Calls

In-Home Cat Care

At Countryside Veterinary Clinic, we realize that situations may occur that make it nearly impossible for you to bring your cat into our office for an appointment. You may be too sick to leave the house, your cat may be unable to handle leaving the house, or perhaps you have multiple cats that all require veterinary check-ups. In these cases, it may be more efficient to have a veterinarian come to your home to perform basic wellness examinations. At Countryside Veterinary Clinic, we offer this as a service to our clients for convenience and to ensure that our feline patients are able to receive the veterinary care they need regardless of their circumstances.

When A Cat Owner Is Too Sick To Visit Our Office

One of our veterinarians and a vet assistant will come to your home if you are too sick to make the trip. This enables your cat to get the medical attention he or she needs and for you to have the peace of mind of knowing that he or she is getting the necessary medical care.

When It Is Difficult To Put Your Cat Into A Carrier

One of the most common reasons that owners do not have proper medical care for their cats is because they have difficulty getting their cat into a carrier. If this is the case, please call our office at 410-657-8024 and we can recommend several methods and perhaps some medication for the cat to make this transportation problem easier.

When You Have Too Many Cats To Bring To The Vet

If you have multiple cats and cannot transport all of them to the hospital for an annual check-up or medical care, our in-home cat care service is available.

What To Expect From A Veterinary House Call

When you schedule a cat house call, we will send a veterinarian and a vet technician to examine your cat. We will bring all of the instruments necessary to perform a thorough exam. We are able to perform the following tests in your home:

  • Blood pressure check
  • Thorough examination
  • Acquire blood or urine for necessary lab tests
  • Administer vaccines

To ensure that your cat is available to our veterinarian for examination, please make sure that he or she is in a small room so they can be found.

It should be noted that there are some procedures that cannot be performed within your home. When examining your cat at home, our veterinarians will assess during the physical exam as to whether or not your cat will require any further testing at the hospital. If such testing is required for diagnosis or treatment, then our veterinary staff will assist in the transport of your bavck to the hospital.

How To Prepare For A Veterinarian To Examine Your Cat(s) At Home

There are two things you can do to prepare for your vet’s visit. First, keep your cat in a small room. This makes it easier for your veterinarian to conduct the examination while minimizing the stress on you and your cat. Second, have a list of questions handy so that you can address any concerns you may have with your veterinarian.
