I am a 2018 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. My professional interests include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. I am married to my wife, Dr. Blaire Johnson, a graduate of the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. We enjoy spending time with our three beautiful girls, Dylan (a promising veterinarian), Cameron and Logan, plus our three dogs, and two cats. Oakley an, Australian Cattle Dog, Caddy, a lab mix, and Rubble, a mix they rescued named affectionately after Paw Patrol. We can often be seen mountain biking with them often throughout Patapsco State Park. I am proud to have helped organize an annual mountain biking event in the park, Punisher at Patapsco - a 4-week racing series to benefit the Patapsco State Park and to get kids and families out riding together.

What Clients Love:

"Countryside vet is the only place I will go with our animals...I wish they took care of my kids too :) Dr. Heath Thumel is our favorite he is the most kind, patient, honest, and down to earth professional doctor we have worked with (and I have had dogs by my side for over 30 years!). While all of the providers at Countryside are wonderful, I do always request Dr. Heath Thumel. When our 12.5 yr old Ridgeback past away this past December, Dr. Thumel made a very sad and difficult process better. He not only cared for our pup as if she was his own, but he cared for my family as we struggled with decisions and what to do. When Dr. Thumel advises me or instructs me to do something, I trust him, no questions asked. He is the kind of doctor you wish you had for yourself!! Deciding to go to Countryside is the best decision you can make for you pet. We will never go anywhere else!" - M. Berry
