I am Dr. Mary Beth Soverns, a proud graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. In 1988, my husband, Dr. Carroll Thumel, and I co-founded Countryside Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Kimberly Young

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kimberly Young is a 2006 graduate of the Virginia- Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from Maryland and has been practicing at Countryside since graduating in 2006! Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, dental surgery, and internal medicine. Dr.

Dr. Margaret Breakell

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Breakell grew up in the northwest corner of Connecticut on a small beef farm. Her initial veterinary interests began while showing cattle and riding horses. Dr. Breakell earned her DVM degree at Oklahoma State University in 2017 and moved to Maryland in 2018 joining a mixed animal practice.

Danielle (Dani) graduated with a degree in graphic design in 2010 from Clover Park Technical College in Washington State, where she was born and raised.

Veterinary Technician

We are very proud to have Kathie as part of the Countryside team since 1996! Kathie received her veterinary technician degree from Essex Community College in 1997.

Joanna

Veterinary Technician

Joanna started out with Countryside by shadowing Dr. Webster (Dr. Young) in 2011 and quickly became a wonderful asset to our clinic. We were then lucky enough have her join our staff as a Veterinary Assistant.

Veterinary Technician

Danielle began working at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in 2000 as a receptionist. After graduating from Catonsville Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, with her degree in Veterinary Technology, she became registered technician at Countryside!

Caroline

Veterinary Technician

Caroline graduated from Allegheny College with a degree in Biology. She has always had an interest in animals and wanted to pursue a career in the field. She is interested in becoming a registered veterinary technician.

Courtney is from Frederick County where she attended Urbana High School and Frederick Community College.

Minnie

Receptionist

Minnie was born and raised in Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Avian Sciences. She always had a passion for animals ever since she was little.

Colleen was born and raised in Ellicott City. She grew up riding horses and has spent her life surrounded by animals.

Aislinn

In addition to my role as a Customer Service Representative at Countryside, I plan to become certified in personal training and yoga.

Kristen

Kristen grew up in the Adirondacks in Upstate New York, her two biggest passions are animals and cooking. She graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in London in 2012 and worked in professional kitchens for over a decade.

Samantha absolutely loves animals and grew up in Crownsville. Since then, she has volunteered at shelters and rescues as well as worked at doggie daycares and kennels across the country!

Ashley

Receptionist

Ashley was born and raised in Howard County. She attended Glenelg High school, and Howard Community College earning a degree in Psychology. Ashley grew up riding and working with horses and has always been passionate about helping animals.

Emily grew up here in Maryland where she rode horses and found she had a huge love for animals. She currently has a boxer named Tasha and they love hiking together. She has a passion for photography and horticulture and took classes in both at Montgomery College.

Joanna

Receptionist

Joanna is from California but was born and raised in Washington state. She is currently going to school to obtain a degree in computer science but always have had a job working with animals.

Brooke

Veterinary Assistant

Brooke has been a veterinary assistant with Countryside since 2008, but her family have been clients of ours for over 25 years! She is currently attending Catonsville Community College of Baltimore County and is interested in becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Ethan

Veterinary Assistant

Ethan always has a lifelong love of animals and a true compassion to care for them. He says he is overjoyed to be able to work with and love on your pets daily! In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, skateboarding, and playing with his pitbull, "Pax".

Veterinary Assistant

Nick joins us with a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Veterinary Science and a Minor in History from the University of Delaware! He has 3 dogs, "Hooper", an English Black Lab, "Honey", an English Yellow Lab, and "Sulley", a Havanese and a cat named "Ozzy".

From the time Sky was little she always knew her passion for animals. She grew up in Glen Burnie MD, where she spent a lot of her time with her grandparents who rescued many different types of animals which she helped train and take care of!

Melina

Veterinary Assistant

Melina's love for animals began with her first childhood pet, a tabby cat named "Snickers". She is from Burnsville, Minnesota, and grew up as a military child with a passion for all living things.

Hope started with us as a shadow to Dr. Burgess while in high school and realized this industry was her passion. She recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
